If you want a smoothie that doesn't taste like a smoothie--this is it. This indulgent shake is secretly healthy and will give you a boost of energy.
DATES are one of my favorite ingredients. I love having them before games or practices because they are high in simple carbs and natural sugars. They are also very nutrient dense! They are the natural sweetener in the recipe and they make this smoothie thick and rich.
Tip: if you have bananas that are about to go bad, chunk them and freeze them in a plastic bag. Using frozen bananas in smoothies and shakes makes them super thick!

Chocolate Date Shake
Time: 5 minutes
Makes 1 smoothie
Ingredients
- 4 medjool dates, pitted
- 1 banana, chunked (preferably frozen)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder (or chocolate protein powder)
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup milk of choice
Method
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth. Enjoy immediately or keep in the fridge!
